Belt Test Tracking
Create formal belt test events, register eligible students, record test results, and automatically promote students who pass. Track complete promotion history for every student.

Navigate to Belt Tests
Click 'Belt Tests' in the left sidebar to access the belt test management page.

Click 'Create Test Event'
Click the 'Create Test Event' button to set up a new testing session.

Enter event details
Provide a name for the test (e.g., 'Spring 2026 Belt Testing'), select the test date, and choose the target belt rank (the belt students will be testing for).

Set optional details
Add optional fields like location, start time, notes, and registration deadline to help manage the event.

Save the event
Click 'Save' to create the event with SCHEDULED status. The event will now appear in the belt tests list and be visible to members in the portal.

Open the test event
From the Belt Tests page, click on the event to view its detail page.

View eligible students
The event detail page shows all students who are eligible based on minimum attendance requirements and time in their current belt rank.

Register students
Click the 'Register' button next to each eligible student to add them to the test. You can register multiple students at once using the bulk select option.

Member self-registration
Members can also register themselves from the portal if they meet eligibility requirements. Self-registered students appear in the same registration list.

View registration list
All registered students appear in the 'Registrations' section of the event detail page with their current belt rank and eligibility status.

Open the test event
Navigate to the test event detail page on or after the test date.

View registrations
The registrations list shows all students signed up for the test with their current result status (defaults to PENDING).

Record results
For each student, select their test result: PASSED (student will be promoted), FAILED (student remains at current belt), or NO_SHOW (student didn't attend).

Save results
Click 'Update Result' after selecting the outcome for each student. Results can be updated at any time before completing the event.

Bulk result entry
Use the bulk action dropdown to quickly mark multiple students with the same result (e.g., mark all as PASSED or all as NO_SHOW).

Record all results first
Make sure all students have a result recorded (PASSED, FAILED, or NO_SHOW) before completing the event.

Click 'Complete Event'
Once all results are entered, click the 'Complete Event' button at the top of the event detail page.

Confirm completion
A confirmation dialog will show you how many students will be promoted. Review the list and confirm to proceed.

Automatic promotion
The system automatically promotes all students marked as PASSED to the target belt rank. Their belt rank is updated immediately.

Promotion history created
A BeltPromotion record is created for each promoted student, linking to this test event. This creates a permanent audit trail of all promotions.

Event locked
Once completed, the event status changes to COMPLETED and can no longer be edited. Students who failed or didn't show remain at their current belt rank.

Student profile
Open any student's profile page from the Students section.

Belt History tab
Click the 'Belt History' tab to view the student's complete promotion timeline.

Timeline view
The history displays all belt promotions in chronological order, showing the from-belt, to-belt, promotion date, and which test event they passed (if applicable).

Test event links
If a promotion was from a formal test event, you can click the event link to view the full test details.

Manual promotions
Promotions done manually (outside of test events) also appear in the history but won't have a test event linked.

Navigate to Curriculum
Click 'Curriculum' in the left sidebar to view your belt system.

Select a belt rank
Click on the belt rank you want to configure eligibility for.

Set minimum attendance
Enter the 'Minimum Attendance for Testing' field. This is the number of classes a student must attend before being eligible for testing.

Set minimum time in rank
Enter the 'Minimum Months in Rank' field. This is how many months a student must hold their current belt before testing for the next rank.

Save configuration
Click 'Save' to apply the eligibility requirements. These will be used automatically when checking student eligibility for test events.

Requirements per belt
Each belt rank can have different requirements. For example, white to yellow might require 10 classes and 2 months, while red to black might require 50 classes and 12 months.
